Condukt at Superbooth26

Our week in Berlin, roaming Superbooth26 decked out in synths from midi.guide.

At the start of last week we took a long flight to Frankfurt, followed by a train ride to Berlin. At some point we pulled out our OP-Z and decided to test our recording equipment. The trip started the way a Condukt trip should: a small synth, a pair of headphones, and a few hours to kill.

A Morning at Schneidersladen

We were at it the day before Superbooth opened, with a lovely morning spent at Schneidersladen. Coffee and synths, in roughly that order. The shop has a way of pulling you in, a wall of Eurorack here, a row of grooveboxes there, and just enough room to plug in an iPhone and see what happens. We patched Condukt into a few things on the floor and the staff were generous with their time and their gear. The highlight was Nonlinear Labs C15, which you hear in the background of this video.

We ended the day at RSO.BERLIN for an epic concert by the electronic music legends Modeselektor.

Three Days, A Lot of Gear

The next day we lined up to get our Superbooth passes at 10am sharp. The show is overwhelming, so much to see and do. We talked to so many inspiring people with great ideas. Builders, musicians, manufacturers, other devs. We got to play with a crazy level of gear and try Condukt in many different configurations: monosynths, drum machines, samplers, polys, oddities we'd only seen in photos.

Ben made a huge push in the month leading up to Superbooth to research and add definitions for as many SB exhibitors as possible, so Condukt played nicely with many of them. Plugging in a USB cable and seeing parameters appear by name, on a device the developer had never tested with us, still feels a little like magic.

The People

In the end we were there for all three days, racking up 15k steps on each day. The show grounds are huge and there is a beer vendor in each section. It made for great conversations. We met builders we've only known through GitHub issues, Elektronauts friends, players whose videos we've watched for years, and a handful of people from our Discord who recognized us (or our jackets) and came over to say hi. That part is hard to overstate: meeting the people behind the pull requests, the bug reports, and the screenshots in person is worth the trip alone.

Back to Work

We're already back at it, working on the next beta update. Also, another run of SEQTRAK cases is on the way, since they proved very popular at the show. If you're waiting to place an order, email jam at condukt.app so we can gauge interest.

There's also a new skiff/case for the Teenage Engineering OP-Z, which you might have spotted in our videos. More on that soon. And yes, those jackets are now in our store too.

See you at SB27?
